Human growth hormone (commonly referred to as HGH or somatropin) plays a role, in supporting muscle development and bone strength in the body. Initially obtained through pituitary glands as a source of HGH was prohibited in 1985 following its association, with Creutzfeld Jakob disease. Synthetic alternatives were then created, with somatropin introduced in 1987 as a safer option made using recombinant DNA technology. Though it supports muscle growth and strength, its effects are generally milder compared to anabolic steroids. Bodybuilders often use somatropin to aid fat loss, while athletes turn to it for performance and physique enhancement beyond what steroids can offer.
