Initially designed for tanning, Melanotan-II later revealed potent proerectile properties through CNS stimulation. MT-II is a synthetic analog of α-MSH with strong MC4R affinity. It causes erections via forebrain and spinal mechanisms, not through direct vascular pathways. Research shows its effects are linked to nitric oxide. In trials, men with erectile dysfunction responded positively to MT-II injections, with significant erection duration and mild side effects. Its ability to increase libido and penile rigidity distinguishes it from conventional peripheral treatments.
