Engineered for research, Long(R3)-IGF-I mimics IGF-1 with increased resistance to IGF-binding proteins and a longer functional duration. Unlike hGH, it lacks strong thermogenic effects and may even promote lipogenesis. This analog remains under investigation and is not approved for medical use. In the athletic community, it’s used off-label to enhance muscle mass and strength. It binds the IGF-1 receptor with high affinity but bypasses some of IGF-1's natural metabolic constraints.
