Emerging during a wave of steroid innovation, Stanozolol was introduced in the early 1960s for therapeutic use in both pediatric and adult patients. Known as Winstrol, it was developed by Winthrop Laboratories and offered an anabolic solution for muscle wasting without the risks of aromatization. Its long-term use extended beyond human therapy into veterinary practices, particularly for enhancing performance in animals. While the FDA eventually restricted its use domestically, global production continued, sustaining its presence in selected pharmaceutical systems.
