Initially developed by Ciba in the 1960s, Boldenone Undecylenate entered the market as Parenabol for human medical use. However, by the 1970s, its primary application became veterinary medicine under the name Equipoise. Boldenone for its capacity to improve muscle mass and increase hunger in horses with the ester of undecylenate provides a longer period of effectiveness. Chemically, it is a modification of testosterone, featuring a double bond that makes it less estrogenic and more anabolic. Ownership of Equipoise has passed through several companies, and it is currently marketed by Pfizer.
