Approved by FDA in 1997 Letrozole( "femara") is a third-generation aromatase inhibitor, primarily used to treat hormone-responsive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Blocking of aromatase enzyme lowers the amount of estrogen secretion in greater percentage. In bodybuilding, it is used to reduce estrogenic side effects such as benign enlargement that would happen with the application of anabolic drugs.
