Selank, a peptide with anxiolytic properties, shows effects similar to classical benzodiazepines by enhancing GABA's inhibitory action through GABAA receptor modulation. Studies on neuroblastoma IMR-32 cells revealed that while Selank does not alter mRNA levels of GABAergic system genes, when combined with GABA, it suppresses GABA-induced gene expression changes. Furthermore, when used with olanzapine Selank enhanced gene expression modulation highlighting its potential in influencing GABAergic neurotransmission.
