Selank also demonstrates significant stress protective and anti inflammatory effects. In studies using a social stress model in rats, Selank reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6, restoring them to near-normal levels. The peptide also decreased TGF-β1 and TNF-α concentrations whilst restores IL-4 levels. The results indicate that Selank shows promise, in controlling responses triggered by stress and could be an option, for therapies targeting cytokine regulation in stress related conditions.
