This compound played a pioneering role in hormone replacement therapy before injectable testosterone became standard. Its low anabolic activity limited its use in muscle-building, but strong androgenic effects, oral availability, and minimal hormonal suppression contributed to decades of medical acceptance, especially across Europe and parts of Asia. It was never marketed in the U.S..
