Developed in the 1980s and distributed internationally as Dostinex by Pharmacia, Cabergoline is a selective dopamine D2 receptor agonist derived from the ergot alkaloid family. It inhibits prolactin secretion, making it effective in treating hyperprolactinemia and related hormonal imbalances. Although it gained limited use in bodybuilding, its relevance has emerged due to its role in managing prolactin-induced side effects. Generic approvals from 2005 onward expanded access. Cabergoline remains clinically important for endocrine treatment in over 30 nations.
