Testosterone enanthate was also evaluated as a possible male contraceptive in clinical research conducted during the 1970s and 1980s. Weekly injections of 200 mg showed suppression of sperm production in the majority of participants. Fertility was generally restored after discontinuation, showing reversibility. Despite the positive outcomes, the method was never commercialized in Western markets. Limited public demand, lack of pharmaceutical sponsorship, and cultural resistance halted further development of testosterone-based male contraception protocols.
