Originally intended to treat male hormone deficiency, Testosterone Propionate offered a breakthrough in the 1930s by enabling prolonged testosterone release. Launched in 1937 by Schering AG under Testoviron, it became the prototype for all testosterone esters. While FDA protocols came later, the drug was incorporated into approved treatments. Today, it serves both therapeutic and non-medical users. Due to suppression of natural testosterone, post-cycle therapy is necessary. Historically, it was the first injectable androgen standard.
