Minoxidil was first used in the 1970 to help with high blood pressure however during this time, some patients noticed their hair was growing back. In result this led to creating a topical solution to prevent hair loss, known as androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The 2% version was available in 1986 and 5% version in 1993. The exact way minoxidil helps hair grow is still not completely researched. The foam version is easy to apply, dries quickly, and has fewer side effects than the liquid form.
