Fluoxymesterone, developed by Upjohn and marketed as Halotestin, is a potent oral steroid introduced in the 1950s. Its chemical design includes a 9α-fluoro group, enhancing androgenic action while preventing aromatization. Although originally approved for various anabolic indications, including muscle wasting and osteoporosis, regulatory changes have restricted its medical use to male hypogonadism and breast cancer in women. Due to its capacity to improve muscle density and aggression, it’s still used in competitive bodybuilding, despite risks of hepatotoxicity and androgenic stress.
