Mibolerone, introduced in 1963, was developed by Upjohn as a veterinary steroid under the brand name Cheque Drops. It is a 7,17-dimethylated derivative of nandrolone, notable for its extreme anabolic potency—up to 41 times that of methyltestosterone in animal assays. Originally formulated to prevent estrus in female dogs, it was never approved for human use due to its high estrogenic and progestational activity, as well as pronounced liver toxicity. Though officially discontinued in the early 2000s, mibolerone remains accessible in the U.S. only as a compounded veterinary drug under strict regulation.
