Product Overview

Bacteriostatic Water for Injection (bWFI) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution used to dilute or dissolve medications for intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous administration. It contains antimicrobial agents, such as benzyl alcohol, to inhibit microbial growth, making it suitable for multi-dose applications. Typically packaged in containers up to 30 mL, bWFI has a pH range of 4.5 to 7.0, averaging around 5.7. The appropriate volume for diluting or dissolving a drug depends on the specific medication's concentration, dosage, and recommended route of administration. Before use, it's essential to inspect the solution for particulate matter and discoloration to ensure safety and efficacy. Notably, due to potential toxicity, bWFI containing benzyl alcohol should not be used in neonates.
