Originally approved for treating infertility in women, Clomiphene citrate became a standard by the early 1970s. It functions by modulating estrogen receptors, particularly in the hypothalamus and pituitary, which promotes increased release of LH and FSH. Later, it was repurposed to help restore testosterone production in men following anabolic steroid use. Despite newer therapies entering the market, Clomiphene’s long-standing efficacy and international availability keep it in medical rotation across both therapeutic and non-clinical settings.
