Primarily known as an antihypertensive agent, telmisartan has recently gained attention for its possible anti cancer effects, specifically against esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Works by halting the cell cycle at the S-phase, which stops cancer cells from multiplying. This lowers the concentration of essential proteins that facilitate cell growth. In result telmisartan could be a valuable option in cancer treatment, especially for those affected by ESCC.
