Studies in humans reinforced MT-II’s central proerectile effects. In one controlled trial, ten men with non-organic erectile dysfunction received MT-II doses, leading to erections in eight of the ten participants. Their erections averaged 38 minutes of 80% rigidity, a notable improvement over placebo. This response confirmed MT-II’s effectiveness in men with psychological, rather than physiological, erectile dysfunction. Although side effects like nausea and yawning were reported, these were dose-dependent and generally mild. MT-II’s ability to stimulate erections through central pathways without extensive side effects established it as a promising therapy.
