Substance Overview and History

The Human hormone Chorionic Gonadtropin (HCG) essential, for fertility and mainly produced during pregnancy to boost progesterone levels was first identified in 1920. Brought into the market as "Pregnon" by company Organon in 1931 before being renamed to Pregnyl in 1932. This hormone was originally sourced from animals but by the 1940s switched to extracting it from the urine of pregnant women. Modern day uses of HCG include treating hypogonadism and infertility along, with being used by athletes to stimulate testosterone production after a steroid cycle.
