In 1962 Jenapharm, from East Germany created 4 Chlorodehydromethyltestosterone (Oral Turinabol) a steroid that's a variation of Dianabol with a 4 chloro adjustment to reduce its androgenic and estrogenic effects while still offering muscle growth advantages with side effects. Unlike some steroids like Chlorodehydromethyltestosterone does not lead to estrogen conversion alleviating concerns about gynecomastia or water retention, for users. The drug became well known because it was used in a government plan, in East Germany to increase athletes muscle mass without causing water retention. . This initiative was active, between 1974 and 1989 before Jenapharm ceased manufacturing the medication in 1994.
