Methyldrostanolone, also referred to as Superdrol, was initially synthesized in 1959 by Syntex but never developed as a pharmaceutical product. It is a dihydrotestosterone (DHT) derivative with a structural modification that significantly increases its anabolic potency. It was released in 2005 as a dietary supplement under the name Superdrol, bypassing steroid regulations. Despite its strong muscle-building effects, it is associated with severe liver toxicity and cardiovascular risks, leading to its discontinuation by the FDA in 2006 .
