HCG, originally isolated in the 1920s and commercialized as Pregnyl in 1932, is a glycoprotein hormone that mimics luteinizing hormone (LH). It is widely used to restore testosterone production post-cycle by stimulating Leydig cells in the testes. HCG is also employed to maintain testicular size and function during anabolic steroid use. However, excessive use can increase aromatase activity, raising estrogen levels and potentially causing gynecomastia. Thus, careful dosing is essential to prevent hormonal disruptions while promoting recovery .
