Substance Overview and History

Boldenone Undecylenate originally synthesized by Ciba in the 1960 and was first introduced for human medical use under the brand name Parenabol. Todaycontinuing its role in veterinary medicine and marketed by Pfizer. However this use was short-lived and by the 1970 it was repurposed for veterinary applications. It gained popularity as brand name Equipoise for its positive impact on horses lean muscle mass and appetite. The chemical structure of it is closely related to testosterone with the addition of a double bond between carbons 1 and 2, which helps reduce its estrogenic effects. The undecylenate ester further extends its duration of action and making it a long-acting steroid in animals. Over the years Equipoise has passed through various pharmaceutical companies starting with Squibb, then to Solvay in 1985 and finally to Wyeth in 1995.
